Family

Family

A Poem by Alexander Fox

Although country will perish,

and family may to,

still i choose family for my allegiance true

Where country may fail me,

so family may to,

yet i choose family, my decision to rue.

My blood and connections more firm then earth,

are the points of affection that give my love girth,

and weighted as such i cannot contend,

that country holds more then connections within.

The first stanza makes sense...but the rest I don't really get.
First you say stick to family, then you talk about regretting it, then you say the country holds more than connections inside you...? I think I'm missing something...
