Looking back

Looking back

A Poem by Daniel Fourie

I wanted you for so long
Now I sit here, listening to this sad song

Thank you for holding my hand
when my head was buried in the sand

You told me to look away from the sun
and to just have fun

Looking back at December
I completely remember
The way your eyes shone bright like a star in the sky
You made me feel so high

But those days are in the past
Our memories locked away in our hearts
With the key in reach
we're in our own niche

Looking at each other we go for one last kiss
For I'll forever miss
Miss the life-giving love you gave
I know you liked it when I didn't shave

Not sure how to end this with words
So I'll leave it to your beautiful mindt
to imagine how life would be
if things worked out for you and me

Love the title. I like many of the lines although some of them need further tweaking - especially the second lines where it reads as if you chose them to rhyme rather than for meaning. Don't the repetition of "miss" - and I keep wanting to read "between you and me" in final line.
Crit: spit infinitive! Can you find it! typo on "mind".
