Words that fade

Words that fade

A Poem by Daniel Fourie

Tried to hold you for so long
but all I got was the saddest song

So I decided to leave you behind
all for you, to change your mind

Drifting away you said nay
Now's the time I guess I'll stay

North to south, east to west
You really are the very best

Confused though, still in a hype
I guess I'll sit here, near my mic
Wait and wonder
In pain and ponder
Writing away my words that fade

I like the title and end line that echoes the title but the rest is a little clichéd and you may be sacrificing meaning to rhyme.
