Oh how she wished she could be in another time and place. His picture sat there on the mantle memories of a happier day. T’was their very first Christmas together, spent riding around in a sleigh. But this year she’ll be without him, she’s not sure how she’ll get by; she prays God will keep him safe, as she wipes the tear from her eye. He is fighting a war far away, with only a tent for a home. Her letters his only solace they keep him from feeling alone. She walked into the winter night, as snowflakes fell soft in her hair; she whispered her love to the wind as sounds of joy filled the air. And somewhere across the ocean, a soldier could feel on his cheek, the gentle stroke of her love, as the wind lulled him into sleep. © Forrest Phelps-Cook

Lovely but poignant imagery.
