Oh, To Sing

Oh, To Sing

OH, TO SING

When I was younger I had
a passable soprano voice. But
after years of smoking cigarettes,
I damaged my vocal chords beyond
repair. If only I had realized what
I was doing.... So now my dream is to
someday write words that will be
sung by many voices.

Oh, to sing like the angels,
how I wish I could be a part,
of the choir of heavenly voices,
sharing joy that comes from the heart.

To bring tears to those who listen,
to raise my voice in praise,
then whisper a song of prayer,
as to heaven our eyes do raise.

But no matter how much I wish it,
I’m not blessed with the gift of song,
so I only can pray that someday,
my words will be sung by the throng.

To be able to hear their voices
take the words that sit on a page,
and sing them in praise to our Father,
t’would, indeed, be a glorious day.
