WAR'S TOLL

WAR'S TOLL

Let us never forget the
many lives that have been lost
in war. And let us also remember
to honor the families of those
brave men and women who have
given their all for our freedoms.
May God bless them always.

It’s a day of celebration
for baseball games with friends.
while somewhere ‘cross the ocean
a life comes to an end.

The news will tell about it,
though the blurb will be quite brief;
we may never see the faces
of the loved ones left to grieve.

We may never know the story
of the ones who gave their lives,
but there would not be freedom
if it weren’t for sacrifice.

Husbands, wives and children
have felt the bitter loss;
to them this war is personal,
for they have paid the cost.

And there are many loved ones
from the wars of long ago
who’ve also faced the sorrows
and seen the deadly toll.

So say a fervent prayer
for the soldiers who now fight;
ask God to keep them safe
every day and every night.
