Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by audrie

it's that time of night again
It's much later than I thought it would be
clench my eyes tight
colors and shapes tornado across my eyelids
try and force all thoughts of life out of my head
I'm torturing myself
lying in this bed
I should know better than to torture myself
toss, flip, turn
one pillow under my head
one pillow next to my chest
I imagine it's you lying next to me
fully aware that my infidelity
was what made you leave
toss, flip flop and turn
I'll give it ten more minute
I'll try and clear my head
of raging images of you and me
