A Poem by MARZ

The West Point

cadet studies

Hamlet.

Do you blame him, he

doesn't see the point.

The professor didn't have to trade

ten years of young life for

an education.

She studied in New York

at NYU -

paid for in full by

parents swimming in post-modern art.

She didn't sign up at high school graduation

or give her partying up for a

short haircut and uniform.

In two years he'll join his brother before him

on the front lines and

Hamlet won't be there with a

word of comfort.

This damn class is just

required to graduate.

When he reads, he realizes,

"Hey, this is just

The Lion King

only more complicated.

Uncle kills the Father-King,

Father-King comes back as a ghost,

Son must avenge Father-King."

He shrugs it off.

"F**k that professor."

He's going to be the one to catch bin Laden

He's going to be a national hero

He's going to convince that

f*****g yuppie of a professor

that this war was worth it.
