Rain-chocolate-blood

Rain-chocolate-blood

A Poem by MARZ

Drops of blood like

chocolate

Let it rain in this club -

raining drops of blood

in this

Iraqi club.

Gunpowder that feels like

sugar

For a sweet, sweet tongue -

the soldier writes back home.

"This feels more like

a video game than a war.

The enemy comes up on a green screen

and then I push a button.

It's like my Nintendo

It's like my zombie game."

Raining like chocolate-

let it, let it rain

This isn't the first

or last

or first

or last.

I felt the dehumanizing aspect of this poem. I liked the pairing of chocolate and blood as a set up for killing humans being equated to a video game. The repeat of the actions and the the ending lines brought me to feel the unending cycle of automatic action.

Good poem Marz. Glad you are back.
