Treatment

Treatment

A Poem by MARZ
"

Childhood memories.

"

Grandma calls them treatments.

Her friend/boss/doctor/provider

comes with a black little

briefcase.

"Grandma, are you making apply pie

today?

Or the cinammon toast with

butter?

Grandma, will you give custody to my mom

today?"

Then she manages to stutter -

"Grandma's getting a treatment

today.

She'll sleep the whole night through.

When grandma's friend comes over

today

don't forget to tell him a joke -

he likes to talk to you."

Grandma promises to bake apple pie

tomorrow.

She explains that old people have

aches and pains -

that's why she must moan so loud

when she's getting a

treatment.

This is heartbreaking. There are many different ways to look at this and from a child's point of view they are all rather scary. There isn't much else to say, great job!

open to many interpretations. Perhaps its just as well you didn't understand or maybe its just my cynical mind at work

I like what Chad said...he is right. I like your snapshots Marz, they have feeling and meaning.

Thank you for sharing this! I feel like you shared a snapshot of your life
and family, with me; in a very intimate and well done portrait.
You give us a lot of information in a small space.
