Thank You

Thank You

A Poem by MARZ
"

for the job interview

"

I'll cut class to

head to the doctor's office.

He says he wants an assistant for

"the things the maid will not do."

I don't know if there's a

slight implication of sex or if I

need to start taking my meds

again

"Thank you, doctor, it was

nice to meet you."

I'll hear how I did

next week.

Another biweekly payday will

pass by

tick off the calendar like

the spots of blood on my panties

tock off the calendar as the

mail piles up

tick off the calendar as the red number in excel

grows and grows

tock, tick, tock.

You did a good job bringing me into the uncertainty of circumstance with the opening stanza. Then I liked how you introduced the certainty of time as the poem went on.
