Winter Nights

Winter Nights

A Poem by For Lack Of Paper
"

A short poem (or 2, depending on how you look at it) about a winter night

"
Darkness all around me,
wind howling in despair.
Ferocious beasts are sleeping
deep within their lair.

A rat is trapped beneath a rock,
its shrieking fills the air.
An owl swoops down and snatches it,

but no-one seems to care.

-----------

I sit by the hearth
in a soft cushioned chair,
with a book in hand
'bout a shadow black mare.

Although drops of water
drip down from my hair,
and though sun's not shining,
I'm at peace, I don't care

I like the technique you used for your writing when you rhyme every second sentence. Nice work
