Nighlight

Nighlight

A Poem by ForgottenMelody
"

With class and grace I am able to forgive

"

“You know sometimes being around you, I feel like the King of Nightmares”

“What could possibly be so bad to make me think that about you?”

There lies your greatest trick

To make me believe you’re not what you are and are what you’re not

Pride must course through your veins

Ego pumped up, chest popped out

Quite a victory you’ve achieved

Putting this Nightlight in the dark

Your inky tendrils took their time

Licking about…like flames at my feet

All consuming

Slowly and quietly dimming my glow

Congratulations! You’ve succeeded

Nightlight has been plunged into dark waters

Blinking…silently suffocating

Lacking awareness of who? What? or How?

You are busy gloating in your perceived victory

This self-proclaimed king’s rule is to never look back

To plunder and strut down your road of destruction

Head held high you cease to notice

A pulse…small but strong

You see, light has power that darkness knows not of

Because in the darkness is when stars shine the brightest.
