Fade

Fade

A Poem by Alana Michele
"

It to my great grandfather who means everything to me

"

tracing time

on your weathered hands

remembering

loving

All the stories

the war

the life

the world turned your brown hair white

refusing to fade

Grey eyes

still stare

your will

refusing to fail

years stripped away

strength in your heart

but only there

time still rolls

stealing health

please dont fade

What a touching poem Alana. I never knew either of my grandmothers, but I have known others that are wonderful, loving people. I hope to be a grandpa sometime soon, so I could related to this poem in a lot of ways, especially the white hair!

This is so touching. Time is a forever flowing river, but our souls stand still. I can feel the love that was put into this poem. Wonderful.

How great that you have a relationship with your great grandfather, that is very special. Enjoy your precious time together, you're both lucky to have one another.

Loved this.

there's a lot of feeling behind this one, I like it a lot. especially the emotional last line, with a "please" to add the correct effect.

Written with a mix of acknowledgement and pride, with sadness yet amazing love .. this is beautiful.

' .. the world turned your brown hair white .. ' - lump in my throat as i read that ..
