Religion?

Religion?

A Poem by forevermore1218
"

If you get offended, I am sorry but if this type of thing annoys you, don't click on a poem that questions religion. I don't mean to offend anyone. This is just my own humor put into a bad poem :)

"
Why does it matter what we believe in?
does it really matter where we will end up
or where we came from?

I listen to ignorance everyday
people always hating on others just because they think differently
does it really matter who made us?

When I hear how much people can be so cruel
I laugh at their stupidity
though don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be full of myself
I just think it's amazing that people can be such hypocrites

don't get me wrong, I can be a major hypocrite sometimes
but everyone has hypocrisy
not everyone sends death threats to different minds though

and now that I think what the most ironic thing of it all is
that no matter what religion you are
we are all here on earth
so why be violent
we can't deny that we're here

But the funniest thing of it all is
and this cracks me up
on how everyone thinks whom ever sins is going to hell
when the truth is
we all sin

everyone lies
everyone steals at a point in life
it may not be theft of items
but theft of thought or innocence
however some are more extreme then others

so if we all cheat
so if we all lie
then why would we think one of us is special
when aren't we all going to hell?

Religion is MAN-made. That's why it's so fallible.

I studied religion in college and my father is a Seventh-day Adventist pastor, so when I read the title it intrigued me. You make a lot of excellent points. I left the church I was raised in due to constant judgment. Up until a couple of years ago my past was pretty bad. It was non-stop ridicule from the church that made me lose encouragement. It is never wrong for you to question things and draw your OWN conclusions. A Religious or Spiritual experience is unique to each person. I like your writing. Good job!

I don't think you should preface this with an apology. If people are looking to be offended, then they're going to be offended, and that's their problem, not yours.

I'm not religious myself. I don't believe I need it. But I know that for some people, their religion is all they have, and all that keeps them trying to be good people. Those kind of people that have nothing but faith, because yea, reality is a son of b***h. This also reminds me of a quote I read by comedian Ricky Gervais, "If someone said 'we’re banning religion' I’d march to not have it banned. Because it’s your right to believe what you want. And it’s your right to be wrong. And I’ll fight for that right." Damn straight. There are legitimately bad people in this world, and it's not just religion, they'll hide behind anything. If you really want to fight the good fight, really learn everything you can about that religion, and then burn them with their own fire. But always keep an open perspective, because even if many people cherry pick their religious beliefs, there is still a lot of good that can be learned from any religious teachings (except for maybe Scientology :P ).

Yeah I totally agree. The way I think of it, we come from our mothers, then keel over some day and get put in a box. Is there anything we really need to know besides that?? Decide your purpose--for god, yourself, or your family or whatever else--get over yourself and live your life. It's rediculious when people try to change each others purposes. Great poem, it sums up my frustrations at this topic perfectly.

This isn't offending at all. People do need to stop fighting over things like that. If you hate your religion being called wrong then don't do it to other people. Most religions have the same belief but it is practiced differently. I understand where you are coming from but people just like hurting each other. It is natural for them.

I totally agree with you.
Religion shouldn't make people hate each other; if anything, it should bring them together. And if it can't do that, then people should just keep it to themselves and respect others.
This poem isn't bad. You send out a very sincere message, a message I think people should pay attention to.
And we don't need religion to be good people. As long as we repent for the bad things we've done and give our best to be better persons, our consciousness will be at peace.

A very thinking mind indeed. I couldn't agree more. We all lie, we all stole in one point in our lifes, we just sin. Humans are supposed to sin, because those sins gives us wisdom and power to be a better human being. Excellent work!
