Winter

This is a poem I wrote a few years ago and never found a good site to publish it on yet. Enjoy!!! Note: my profile picture is a drawing I made of the character in this poem

Snow covering the ground, nothing but white

Through the gray clouds, an angel’s crown shines bright

There is no life but one sweet soul

Its mind wanders the earth but its heart keeps it whole

 

Loneliness captures Its face, yet a smile is there

No other life there is, it makes the world hard to bear

All there is around It, is spirits of the earth

All waiting for this one soul’s beautiful birth

 

Never ending flakes, the whole earth seems frozen

Over night the frosted hills seemed to have risen

It looks up at the night and sees the never ending sky

It walks through the white valley while time passes by

 

There are no sounds to be heard, no words to speak

Its surroundings are white and mostly bleak

Yet there is one touch of color, one other then white

When It walks through the icy fields, Its red scarf shines bright

 

It grows and grows though It never dies

Though Its body fades, light sparkles in Its eyes

Its spirit roams the earth forever and will always stay

For when the time comes, that special soul will fly away

 

And on that day, the world of winter will shake

For a new season will come and take Its place

But before winter goes, a sound will be heard

For a song will be given by the very first bird:

 

Oh winter, Oh winter here you have gone away

Oh winter, Oh winter here is the start of a new day

When the sun will shine and the world will be mine

As the flowers and trees will rejoice for the new day
