Myself to Fill the SilenceA Poem by ChantelWatching years go by, All the time of my life Flashing before my eyes As I get ready to die. So what did we get, a feeling? And what did we leave, a temporary memory? None of it matters once we leave. Do you see what I mean? Spending time with you Or writing songs to play into My little space of time-- These are my comforts of mind. If we make our life's meaning, I think My life's about you, and the music that I bring To fill up the silence with me. To show myself what I mean... Because the music is me. So that's what I'll get, a feeling. And that's what I'll leave, echoes of a melody, And showing you what you mean to me-- I want to make your life better. So here I am at nineteen, Starting my life, what will it be? Standing on the ashes of old dreams. I've got the music back in me. © 2014 ChantelAuthor's Note
