The Most Dangerous GambleA Poem by ChantelAnother older start-of-song I completed recently. If life is just the road to death, And if you'll bleed me 'til nothing's left, Why should I care? Why should I care?
If you're just another pretty word, Another angel smile, to try to make me yours, Why should I care? Why should I care?
If princes are really worse than thieves, Only out to destroy, they're consumed with greed, And if you might be the same, oh can't you see Why I might want to keep you away from me? And I don't want it to be true, Not of you... The most dangerous gamble, You play with your heart, You play with your life-- You could lose it all. If my fate was written out before I arrived, And if "happy ever after" was always a lie, Why should I care? Why should I care? If we're all here just biding our time, Collecting bruises and scars while we wait to die, Why should I care? Why should I care? The most dangerous gamble, You play with your heart, You play with your life-- You could lose it all. Is there any way to win? Oh, the chances are so slim. I want to believe in you... I want to believe that I can. But what if I lose? What if I give it all to you, And someday you leave me where I stand? What then? The most dangerous gamble, You play with your heart, You play with your life-- You could lose it all. And I don't want it to be true, Not of you... © 2014 ChantelAuthor's Note
