Chaos and Confusion

Chaos and Confusion

A Poem by George Anthony
"

A path to awareness

"
One thing leads to another.
Somewhere along the way I became lost; too many blurry details.
I try to focus; find the positive steps that lead the way out.
Is there more than one path? How do I know?
Should I just sit back and watch?
Some of it is entertaining, some just irritating.
It becomes tiring.
I continue to sift through the turmoil; searching and learning.
I do not let it break me; it is controllable.
Knowledge keeps me grounded. Strength keeps me going.
The light shines through; only if I am aware.
The path opens up; only if I can see past the brush.
There is always a way up the ladder, for one thing leads to another.
I look back and see I created the way out.
I think back and realize I created the chaos and confusion.

True self awareness is the first step toward mastering your personality. Sadly, you will find that chaos and confusion is reality and that a pleasant disposition is really just a coping mechanism meant to mask the inevitability of 'tomorrow'. Every path you open will close, everyone you hate will die, everyone you love will die... you will die, and none of our efforts to mitigate those facts really matter at the end of the day. It's better to stay positive none the less... even if it is a lie, it's how we keep the day brightest before that inevitable twilight. Well done with this, it made me think about things.

I like how you incorporated questions into your poem, and I love your word choice. Great work! Can't wait to read more :)
