Embrace Me

Embrace Me

A Poem by Cardinal Robin

embrace me

I want to be held

yet I cower

the power of me

wants to rage

against these times

but not alone

some things in life

I cannot discover

without another

and it kills me

knowing that if I did

do it all by myself

I would want

to share the victory

without you

the it and the I

have no relevance

not even to my weakness,

none of it meek, but selfish

beneath it all

I cannot peak

I wouldn’t dare.

actually I would and have,

but I cannot do it

without you,

some doors require

more hands than I have

without you

all my fears

all my strengths

all that I know

become the Devil

"some doors require
more hands than I have"

This gave me pause... and then I reread it... then reread it again. Your poem is exsquisite, Robin, and the message touches the deep need to have someone by our side through life. However, those two lines stood out strongly. A lending hand, a loving hand, there to help us enter through a new door... a hand that assures us we don't go it alone... it's beautiful and summed up perfectly here.

Namaste.

Wow Robin... WOW. This is the most soul bearing poem I have read from you. It's raw. I connected to this on so many levels.. I am left with what feels like a hole in the pit of my stomach -- sick over my own yearning.

Self identity -- given through that of another. The desire to go on, fed energy only through their show of affection, attention... "some doors require more hands than I have" ... wow! That is such a brilliant and subtle depiction of need for another.

This is an incredible write Robin. I am awed by your complete release of self in this piece.
An honor to read, my friend. Truly.

Robin, wow, ouch, reading this is gut wrenching, as if to ponder what it means
to be caught insight a downward spiral, grabbing for walls to get out but holding
onto nothing but darkness, all consuming blackness, the creeping, smothering fog
of depression, like looking into a V.V.G painting and feeling the demise,
I could feel the overwhelming sadness woven into the fabric of the meaning,
brilliant writing. Thanks for being Poet.

Robin, this is fantastically raw, probably the most exposing piece I've seen from you, and yet it is likely the most simple in terms of your word choices. I think, without a doubt, that the best writing I have seen on this site are the pieces that are completely without inhibitions on the writers part, and that takes alot to expose yourself, to throw yourself out to the wolves, so to speak.

This piece also screamed at me, held my face firm and made me listen, because it is so much like I am. How often I place my value in that of another, not feeling like I cannot go on, that life is not the same without them, that the joys and sorrows all, cannot be experienced in the same light unless that other individual is there by my side.

I love this one. Embrace me....what a fitting title. Beautifully superb!

Timeless, spaceless, weightless, your words often devour the paper they are wrote upon. And, as always, Robin, you amaze me.
Great write, dear one.
