Embrace Me

Embrace Me

A Poem by Cardinal Robin

embrace me

I want to be held

yet I cower

the power of me

wants to rage

against these times

but not alone

some things in life

I cannot discover

without another

and it kills me

knowing that if I did

do it all by myself

I would want

to share the victory

without you

the it and the I

have no relevance

not even to my weakness,

none of it meek, but selfish

beneath it all

I cannot peak

I wouldn’t dare.

actually I would and have,

but I cannot do it

without you,

some doors require

more hands than I have

without you

all my fears

all my strengths

all that I know

become the Devil

"some doors require
more hands than I have"

This gave me pause... and then I reread it... then reread it again. Your poem is exsquisite, Robin, and the message touches the deep need to have someone by our side through life. However, those two lines stood out strongly. A lending hand, a loving hand, there to help us enter through a new door... a hand that assures us we don't go it alone... it's beautiful and summed up perfectly here.

Namaste.

Hey, Robin, I think this is my favorite of all your words I've ever read. I like the way it flows. So honest and direct and loving.

Ah, yes, well captured. How true it is that we need one another in a myriad of ways. Would you become the devil if you were alone? Such a strange thought indeed. Gives me pause. The longing is sincere and dear in this write. Thank you for sharing your talent yet again.

I love this, and as previously stated in the featured review, this poem is exquisite in its own unique way. This brings me to thoughts I really are in need of. Perfect timing. ;)

You have been writing from the same corner of the heart as me of late. Your words are very effective at carrying the feelings.

Very nicely done. To have a companion in life to share day to day life and events with, is priceless. I know that sounds cliche but it is so very true. Beautiful piece, its going to my favotires.

nicely stated.

This is very different from your usual writing style. I find it unique and I had to adjust (Did Robin really write this?) In a good way.

You have always been very flexible and adventurous with your writing style. This is good, your talent is well expressed and diverse.

Your fundamentals are still great.

A wonderful piece.

Second stanza is the bomb. It echos my personal feeling of lonliness. I often find myself "wanting to share the victory". Another very nice piece from you. Super write sir.
