The Heart of the Beast

The Heart of the Beast

A Poem by Cardinal Robin

I reach out

your hand

a cloud

my hand

the shroud

of ancient mystery

Can you make

the sound,

are you

the player,

is my every prayer

a deja vu,

your history

Recall for me

the time of lovers

love, my soul quivers

in the beast of my heart

The animal in us

reaches back to me

whispers in heartfelt she,

"our souls nevermore apart"

WOW! Such power in such few words. What a gift. Thank you for creating and sharing. I don't want to highlight the poem but the ending was a smack and felt like I came to the end of a ride. great job. I look forward to returning. I hope you accept my invite as a friend. I love your work.

Very creative and talented stuff. Your words are smooth and full of orginality. You shared a merging of two hearts as one in the way you strung your words together. And deja vu, on a recorder is just keeps playing again anew.

Excellent write.

This is an interesting write Robin.. I am reading more than a romance here. Perhaps it's just me, but I read more about 'time' than anything else. Connecting the past with now, history.... repeats? Our human nature as it relates to our spirituality. But, like I said.. that might just be my off center interpretation.

Either way, I love it. It's very gentle... almost soothing. I felt as though I were adrift as I read.. :)

There is a beautiful simplicity in this poem, with a profound statement. Well penned, Robin!

This poem captures the mystical quality of love while still touching on the corporeal "animal" in each of us. Very nice.
