Roll the Ice

Roll the Ice

A Poem by Cardinal Robin

Roll the Ice

Step back

from the edge

stand aside

up end me

why not

appease

my aim

to ease

by melting

not down

and settling

for molten

your broken

misery breaking

you not I

cry baby try

let it wail

lay it on rails

thick and shaky

to any free

dis embark

God help us

if you make

your destiny

on time

your way

could it be

could you

untie your

twisted

smoked

youth

and forget

to stumble

through the

suffocating

stinging bramble

with a sense

of light comedy

Whatever “Never”

when you take

that quantum

leap, leap long

and remember

tuck and roll

pull weeds

from your

gravel weary

knee jerk

needs

then crawl

back to me

I’ll lick

your dead lies

with salt and lemon

and rock your

sunburned soul

leaven up

your moldy bread

and whining

into friendly

communion

and abundant

raw positivity

re sharpen

your dull

skates

with my

Love treading

fearless

on our

razor thin ice

panium
