Weekend Pt1

“It's so hard to know what to do when one wishes earnestly to do right” - George Bernard Shaw

The ladies arrived and Amy looked especially happy she came up to me and gave me a hug. I held her small frame tight in my arms.

“Behave Amy.” She pulled back and looked mock hurt.

“Me?.. I'm perfect brother.” I smiled at her and let her go. Standing behind her looking a little cold was Sienna. I was shocked at her beauty, there were little snowflakes in her hair and her cheeks were rosy by the cold. I realized I was staring and let her in.

“umm.. Come on in you look a bit cold.” She smiled and stepped past me. I took her jacket and saw she wore a light blue sweater. It did not look exceptionally thick.

“Are you cold?” I asked. She nodded. I took off my sweatshirt and handed it to her. She gratefully took it but I noticed her staring at me and saw I forgot to put on a shirt.

“I'll be right back, Make your self at home.” I sprinted up the stairs taking them two at a time. My dad's door was open and when I looked in I saw him look up. I smiled and he motioned for me to come in his room.

“What's up dad?” He eyed me and I realized that he was questioning why I had no shirt on.

“Well what happened to your clothes for one. And two just to say I will be staying up here.” I nodded to him.

“I gave my sweatshirt to sienna and forgot to put a shirt on under it.” I smiled at him sheepishly before I backed out of his room and down the short hall to mine. Walking over to my door less closet I pulled off a tight midnight blue t shirt. I walked back down the stairs and saw that she had my shirt on and every one was watching the TV over the fire. I walked over to the fireplace and got a small fire started to warm the house up a bit. I went over and sat in front of sienna between her legs leaning against the chair. I craned my head up to look at her.

“How have you been Sie?” She smiled down at me.

“I've been Ok.” I nodded fully believing her.

“Haven't dumped Carson yet?” I gave her my trademark grin.

“nope, he is still a gentlemen.” I sighed and turned to watch the TV. It was around 5 o'clock everyone started getting hungry so I went to rummage through the fridge and had no clue what to eat. I walked to the entry way.

“Someone want to give me a hand with some food?” I saw Amy look at Sienna and look back at me. Sienna got up and walked into the kitchen.

“What do you need help with Dave?” I turned to her and shrugged.

“I'm not to sure what to make.” She began looking through the fridge and she pulled out some stuff. We deiced to make pasta and sauce. I began to chop tomatoes but Sienna took over when she noticed I was crushing them rather then chopping them. I went about making pasta and getting the rest of the things for the sauce. We kept bumping into each other in the small kitchen. It was painted yellow like the rose and had a small island in the middle. It was my mothers domain and usually remained untouched. My father and I usually just ate out. There was a small table that had two chairs and was piled high with papers. We never sat down and ate at the table. I shook the nonexistent memories from my mind and we finished making the meal, while having small talk. She bumped into me with the pan full of pasta and hot water. The hot water sloshed all over my shirt. I quickly tore my shirt off to minimize the burn. She sat the pot down in the sink.

“I'm so sorry, I'm generally not this clumsy.” I smiled at her.

“You know if you wanted to see me shirtless then all you had to do was ask.” She slapped me playfully and I acted like I was in pain.

“Ow woman you burn me and hit me. So violent.” Her laughter filled the air and it made me smile, it always did. She leaned against the counter for support.

“Oh what would make it up to you? I owe you anything.” She said still laughing. I put my arms on either side of her.

“A kiss wouldn't hurt.” Her brown eyes bore into my green and her hand began to play with my hair.

“Well we will have to see.” Her lips parted but we jumped apart at the sound of a coughing in the background. I turned to see my father smirking at me.

“Hello dad.” I moved from Sienna and she seemed to go cold. She finished making dinner and handed a plate to my dad before he retreated up the stairs. I just held the counter white knuckled. Damn it so close. I felt a warm pair of lips on my cheek then heard her smooth voice and warm breath against my ear.

“There is your kiss.” It made me shiver and I turned to her and nodded before she started getting plates for everyone. I walked into the laundry room and found a clean shirt to slip into. We walked out arms laden with plates. Once everyone had a plate we sat and watched TV.

“Hey Dave weren’t you wearing a blue shirt?” I blushed.

“I was a bit of a slob and got some stuff on it so I changed. No harm done.” I avoided eye contact from my friends knowing they didn't buy the story but they dug into the food anyways. I took all the plates back to the kitchen and put them in the dishwasher. It was good to just hang with friends again. I walked back in the living room and saw Sienna was gone.

“Any one see where Sienna went?” The pointed out the window. We were snowed in and she was on the phone.

“Go to her Dave.” I gave Amy a pointed look but seeing as I was out numbered six to one I walked out side.

“I know Carson, I am with friends, you will see me Monday.” She looked tired as if this conversation happens a lot.

“No I won't tell you where I am.” I just leaned against the house.

“Carson goodbye. I'm done talking.” She closed her phone and noticed my presence. I gave her a smile.

“Hey Dave.”

“Hey, you Ok?” I knew I would get an 'I'm fine'.

“Yeah..” I walked over to her and stood in front of her.

“Don't say your fine. You look tired and like that conversation happens a lot.” I placed my hand gently on her arm.

“It does he wants to spend every moment with me but I just want space.” I pulled her into a hug and she just leaned on me as we watched the snow fall.

“I mean don't get me wrong Dave. I love him but I won't spend the rest of my life with him.” She loves him. I let her go and she sensed that I had pulled my self away from this conversation. I walked back into the house.

“Come in when your ready.” I was gone leaving her on the porch confused.

“Hey what happened?” Amy asked. I just walked up the stairs and into my room. I went over to the bag that hung in the corner and just slammed my fist into it hard. She loved him. I heard my door open and my father walked in.

“Why aren’t you down stairs.” I just turned away and mumbled a reply.

“Huh Dave?”

“Nothing.” He sat on my bed and waited. Why now did he want to be a father?

“Why are you trying all of a sudden?” I saw him look down at his hands and then his blue eyes met mine.

“Your right I didn't want to accept your mother is gone. I wanted it to all be a dream and I guess what you said earlier snapped me back to reality. I haven’t been fair to you. You should know of your mother.” I cringed, I should of told him his daughter was downstairs. But I couldn't right now.

“Thanks but I don't think while the house is full we should talk about that.” He nodded.

“You know she won't wait forever.” I turned to face him.

“What are you talking about?”

“It's so hard to know what to do when one wishes earnestly to do right. But sometimes you have to do wrong to be right.” I looked at him like he had lost it.

“The girl Dave, I know you have been in love with her. And I know she is Carson's girl. But if she is someone worth fighting for then you can't wait. Things left unsaid hurt a lot more then if the truth was told.” He got up from my bed and gave me a smirk before walking back out side. I sat more confused than I was ten minutes earlier. With a sigh I walked back downstairs with my fathers plate. I put the plate in the kitchen and saw it was ten o'clock. I looked out the window and saw they were having a late night snowball fight. I put on a sweatshirt and gathered snow off the railing and when I saw Sienna walk around I threw one at her back. She turned to see who it was but I ducked below the railing. I grabbed more snow thinking when I jumped up she would of turned but when I jumped I felt a lot of snow hit my face. She just kept rubbing the freezing ice crystals in my face. I jumped the railing and was immersed in the fight.

We came back in all cold and wet and I went upstairs to get changed. I put on some clean clothes and heard a knock at the door. I went to open it thinking it was one of the guys wanting the video games but I was met with Sienna. She blushed and I realized I was just in my boxers and a t shirt.

“Come in.” I walked back to my closet and pulled on a pair of pajama bottoms.

“Umm... sorry bout that Dave.” I chuckled.

“Don't worry about it. No harm done.” I walked out fully dressed.

“What did you want?” She looked up at me.

“Amy said I could borrow pajama bottoms I brought shorts and its a bit to cold for those.” I smiled and held my hand out for her and I led her to my closet.

“Pick anything.. I'll see you down stairs.”

When I went down there were people in their sleeping bags and I saw Amy chatting it up with Mitchel. I went over to the fire where I had my sleeping bag to keep warm. I saw Sienna tip toe over to me and take the sleeping bag next to me. We laid down and I propped up on my elbow to get a good look at her. She just faced me buried in the sleeping bag. I looked closely and she was still shivering.

“Are you Ok? I think soon we will all feel the vibrations your making.” She chuckled but her teeth clattered. I opened my sleeping bag.

“Open yours.” She looked shocked.

“Just trust me Sie.” She nodded and opened hers. I zipped hers together and brought her closer to the fire and held her in my arms. Her hands and feet were ice burgs compared to mine. Every time her foot collided with mine it was cold as hell.

“Jesus Sie whats with the cold?” I said rubbing her arms and back trying to warm her. She laid her head on my chest and soon the chattering of her teeth stopped and when I looked down she was fast asleep next to me. The fire highlighted her face and made her hair look as if it had a gold hue to the ever red color. Her eyelashes created a shadow and she looked so cute and peaceful. I looked over to Mitchel and Amy. Amy was giving me an 'I told you so look' while Mitchel was waggling his eye brows at me. I sighed and rolled over careful not to disturb her yet keep my grip on her. I whispered into her hair.

“I love you Sie.” I drifted off to sleep not noticing the figure retreating up the steps.
