Standing There

Standing There

A Poem by foolsrush
"

i was in the corner, she was thinking maybe I'd lied

"
A clear sky and warm air
A land bathed in light
Police sirens and engines turning
And birds roaming the pines
A dog barks somewhere out there
And this concrete slab is warm

The sweet scent of grass
Rolling from the fields
Flowers blooming at random
A wild montage of the surreal
The sweat poured from my skin
And trickled down my brow

You looked at me in whispers
Your thoughts a distant mile
In the corner of my eyes
To my surprise
I saw your wisp of hair
Tumbling through the air
You left me standing there

This feels like a pleasent Sunday afternoon till I get to the last stanza where the reality of the writers day steps in or should I say, steps away.
Great laying down of the scene as in moments of substance, the mind does in fact, take a snapshot that lives on in detail. I like the almost casual way the 'walking off' is dealt with, it leaves the reader to wonder and in that wondering, make up their own plot.
