Three Inches Deep

Three Inches Deep

A Poem by foolsrush
"

I took this from the newspapers ...

"

Growing deeply, fast asleep
Wonder how you came to this place
A man with no worries, a man with peace
Sleeping soundly in the corner on his face

The wise become wiser
The fools grow in their ignorance
Why are you lying to her
You're losing your endurance

The loser calls the pusher
The winner steps aside
Full of good intentions
Is it his fault the loser died?

The poor man pleads to his rich brother
He laughs in unknown ridicule
One more man is going hungry
His four children are dying

Three inches deep, the rotted food
You tumble to the floor
The police-man comes, the children weep
You're running out the door

You've been caught in dishonor
And your family forevermore
You realize in your doings
It is you they will ignore

The hairs upon your skin, they raise
Cold blood chills to the bone
Pain seeps to your loving soul
You find that you're alone

Realization, the moments forsaken
Assumptions that you don't know
Everyone you thought you loved
Has left you to your own
