Performance

Performance

A Poem by allura

Deafening whispers, Silent screams
Unbearable heartache swallowed her dreams.

Mind like a cell, confined to a cage.
Though no one could tell, she lives on stage.

Encore after encore, the curtains never close.
What this performance is for, she no longer knows.

Lost within her role, forgetting who she was
The theater has taken its toll, like it always does.

so hard to pretend, but even harder to stop.
So glad the curtains finally drew to a close.
