Empty tunes of tryst...A Story by Fonzera night alone...Backed by the soothing wind, coming in from the half open window, i try to sleep in the middle of a lonely night! I hear the window pane creaking sheepishly, as i try tugging into the pillow. Alas, i sit up, ignoring any deliberate signs my body kept passing unto my brainwaves, telling it to sleep. I lie there, feeling the breeze caressing my cheeks, ever so gently.. like a velvety layer of linen, and i stay awake. I look through the window, trying to find any signs of the moon. I've envied it so much, that i never really admired its amiable audacity. Shaded in colours of white, yellow and an inviting darkness, yet ever so vibrantly shining upon us. I unwittingly start admiring the calm aroma of the air, that seem to land straight from the unknowing depths of the moon, upon my window panes. I turn to fetch a glass of water, to quench my thirst whilst still thinking of ways to justify my insufficient reasonings for insomnia at this odd hour, when half the city is dreaming. I stand in the hall, looking out the window, and i spot a dark shadow, wavy, vague, yet so prominent, i lend my arms out, but i could only catch a side of the shadow. I stand, up and walk towards the shadow.. pale, dim, yet seemingly unavoidable.. I follow the dim pattern of whiteness.. and i find a gloomy face, which otherwise could light up a crowd, standing by the door.. And ever so silently i admire the patience that dripped off that vibrant face.. Trying to be me, would have had me ignoring that moment. But for once, i retired my old self and stood there admiring the moment! My eyes now, started to show signs of weariness, i spotted a yawn and forced it back. I figured, that vivacious shadow brought me back to my human behaviour and i tugged back in bed. Clenching unto my pillow, i lifted it a notch up to feel the breeze coming in from the window, which was still creaking, still half open. And i slept, like i had slept not in years. I slept. © 2009 Fonzer |
