The Fortuneteller

The Fortuneteller

A Poem by Robyn C. Bennett
"

My first visit ever to a fortuneteller and 7 days later I met my future husband. Go figure!

"

The Fortuneteller

She looked at me as she lay out the cards
Told me to choose three and wish very hard.
She asked what was my greatest desire,
What I wanted to know is when I would retire!

She stared at the cards and smiled at me
And said my dear you will win the lottery
You will travel to lands far and wide
Sitting and sipping champagne by the poolside.

I would not ask what I did not want to see
That true love may not be in the cards for me
She stared at me with a twisted smile
And said have no fear he'll be along in awhile

She said you will meet a handsome stranger
Who will put your heart in grave danger
He is tall, fair with piercing blue eyes
He speaks the truth he will tell you no lies

For you to gain his trust and win his affection
And take your heart in a new direction
First you must learn to trust yourself
And have faith that love will take care of itself
