Buttons and BladesA Poem by FlynnButtons and blades make it all feel okay I’ll atone for my crimes a stitch at a time And whisper your name as my blood starts to cry The needle is sharp, but your words are much sharper The world as I see it Looks a little bit darker… Surrounded by clinking of silver, and red Likes to leak from my ears As it drips down my head… Perhaps if I show it , They’ll realize… I’m dead. Buttons of gold, and my blades are of silver They are rusted and covered In struggles unspoken I have gouged out my eyes, and replaced them with gold If the eyes are a window Surely I have no soul I have stitched my new body from the pain of my friends I am art! I am renewed! I shall NEVER end! Though I struggle to walk.. And my fingers are clumsy.. Perhaps they now realize I am as Alive as I can be..© 2016 Flynn |
