MY Crossroad

MY Crossroad

A Poem by flyingdreams

I chose to go the trodden path,
 Leaving the less travelled by.
With a sigh and a wistful glance
I went where millions walked before.

They told me it was dull and bore,
 faded pictures, age old notes…
Nothing to linger and watch a bit,
nothing to give a second thought.

Still I didn’t close my eyes,
didn’t tune out voices from my ears.
So the trodden path told me tales
which I wished I never heard

Of the flesh that paved it fine,
tears and sweat that gave it the shine,
Long dried blood coating it brown,
every speck of dust brimming with life.

Castles, standing high on the sides,
spoke of not the might of distant kings,
But the hundred thousand lives
offered to death in the altar of dreams...................

I chose to go the trodden path,
 leaving the less travelled by!
And life, as the poet said,
has just refused to be same again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Intelligent treatment of a novel twist; heavily adorned with strong, stark imagery.
Impressive offering, fd!

i really like what you have written and sadi here. I feel as if part of it may stand as true. I like the lines of Castles, standing high on the sides, and on down. Beuatiful.

You've pointed out the definite in life. CHANGE As every second evolves the world is changed completely in some finite way. Each path we take, we take by choice whether we want to or not, we must choose ourselves to take the first step and whether, after that step, we keep on going or turn around and retrace. The gift is in knowing that it is up to oneself.
I like your writing. It is delcate and refined.

. a very, very perceptive piece of poetry ... you present your perspective very well ... indeed, those who are judgmental about the "trodden path" must reflect about "the hundred thousand lives offered to death at the altar of dreams" ... and then decide their preference ... some may choose the trodden path ... some the less traveled one ... it really depends on one's perspective ... we all have a choice ... we can choose the path that works for us ...

Nice contrast poem to Robert Frost's "Two Roads". The well trodden path does hold mystery, beauty, and adventure. Superb!
