barren earth

barren earth

A Poem by flyingdreams

barren earth
does it dream? in technicolor
of vibrant flower..........
the clouds that never pause to pour
the wind that ever moves on
forever the dust
forever the lust
the unfulfilled desires
the uncalled for fate
barren earth
in its sleep, in its countless
colourless waking hours
does it weave with
scores of scents
a deathcloth to cover
its forever life..........

Barren earth is forever life. Wow. Beautiful

Utterly beautiful! Wonderful metaphors rich with lingering and meaning. I think the poem is among your best ones yet.

This I enjoyed immensely, it reminds one of the immensity, the eternity, of implacable nature. That nature alone is undying. While man vain insect, exists for but a second of the infinite. I like the tenor however it is not at all depressing, and rightly so! For nothing here is for tears, for while all of man's achievements shall fade and pass, everything we are will eventually be nothing. Nature shall place fragrant copses amongst our desolate ruins and thus beauty, true beauty, shall be eternal!

I enjoyed this piece immensely for the emotions, realisations, and thoughts it elicits in the reader. I also enjoyed the fact that language was not overly superfluous, like the natural world it is describing, nothing within it is unnecessary or excessive. Bravo!

I shall have to read more of your work!
