Where I came fromA Poem by Reader53My own version of the Poem "Where I'm from" by George Ella Lyon
I am from dish soap,
from dust spray and gel. I am from the windows that light up in the morning, the smell of eggs and waffles when I rise. I am from the dandelions growing in the grass, the tree that I swung on when I felt free.. I'm from respect and humor, from Lindsay and Josh. I'm from dancing to music and singing to the radio, and from putting the tree up right after thanksgiving. I'm from knowing to play the long game and learning patience, and that cat poster that told me to keep on going. I'm from coming home to a dinner and family conversations. I'm from humid lands, and a diverse nation. From the marriage of my father, and step-mother too, a traditional wedding that taught me much. The pictures of my past hanging by my bed, and the mind I have gained from my loved ones. The stories I have experienced that make me, me. I am from those moments, The first game I won at a soccer match. The car ride down to my new home. and the time I sat down and decided for myself, what I wanted to do with my life that is my own.
