My Happily Ever After

I wrote this for my fiance.

You have opened my eyes to a sight I've never seen

You have shown me how beautiful I am through your eyes.

I never realized I was beautiful until I met you

I never knew what what true love was until you showed me how love is suppose to be

You showed me that love can be beautiful,

Not just a one-way street

You showed me how much of a difference

being truly loved and cherished can make

I never thought love could be as wonderful as you have shown me

Everyday with you just gets better

Your touch calms me like nothing else ever could

Just being near you, keeps me grounded

When I'm upset only your hugs and caresses can take away the pain

Your kisses make me feel so special

I love the way you look at me,

I can see the tenderness and love in your eyes.

Your touch holds such tenderness to it,

It is never harsh, even when we disagree.

You forgive me for my mistakes, and I forgive you for yours.

I love how we learn from our mistakes and grow together.

No matter what we go through,

We always end up coming out on top.

We've weathered through losses and major life changes,

Where other couples may have drifted apart, we instead grew closer.

I know that I could never live without you and your love,

I love you that much.

I've always wanted a happily ever after,

With you, my dream has come true.

Thank you for showing me what love feels like

Thank you for showing me how beautiful you see me

Thank you for making everyday of my life more significant than the last

Thank you for giving me my forever,

My happily ever after.

Author's Note

This poem does not flow well, but when you write from the heart, it never really seems to. To me, doesn't sound much like a poem, but is there truly a definition of what a poem should and shouldn't be?
