Butterflies

whimsical poems

No matter what I do,

my happiness escapes me.

It flies away on the wings of

the whimsical butterflies.

 

when you are around me,

I come alive,

The butterflies dance around me,

my happiness no longer eludes me.

 

when you leave me,

the light goes out of my life

and i am surrounded by darkness that swallows me whole

and the butterflies fly off with my happiness once again

 

The butterflies taunt and tease me,

Fluttering just beyond my reach

Filling me with promises of happiness,

ever so fleeting

 

My only hope is that someday

you will choose to stay with me forever

Then the butterflies will rest around me

and give me happiness eternal
