God Bless America

A Poem by Flow
"

Speaking my Mind

"

God Bless America

I don’t mean to sound

Anti-Patriotic

Or non appreciative

Of my right to exist

Live and pursue happiness

In the U.S. of A

But..

I am sick and tired of

Walking these

Roads made of gold

Passing the homeless

Who beg for nickels and time

As we the working

Ignore them

Pretending

They don’t exist

I am sick and tired

Of watching the news

On how bad

The housing market is

As I passed abandon house

After abandon lot

That have been that way

For years on top of years

But no one cared as long

As that s**t

Was on my block

Out of site out of mind

I am sick of politicians only having

An ear to listen when they want to

Solicit my vote

Knowing all the time

My vote doesn’t count

And doesn’t matter if

I am republican or democrat

In the end it will be the same

As it was last year

And the year before

Nothing will change

Broken promises

Hopeless dreams

Politicians aren’t worth

Their weight in salt

The one thing

I learned about

Being an American

We are the land of the free

Home of the brave

But all that matters

Is the green

We will

Lie

Cheat

Deceive

Mislead

Trick

Kill

Sell our parents

Spouse

And children’s souls

To the devil

For just one

Capitalist dollar

God Bless America!

I feel that way too, well said. I'm tired of pasty face politicians with soft hands that have never know a hard day's labor, talking about "The American People", like they know anything at all about what that is and who we even are. B******s, at there 10.000$ a plate fundraisers.
Anyway, thanks for sharing!

You're right, and that's really sad to be completley honest. Well written =]

Hey, I'm so interested by the mass of America changing and I wonder is G.w.B has pushed this into the general phsyche even more, because I've known many American's over the years who've hated what happens to their country but I truely believe now, more than ever, that there is a mass of change coming....I hope so for yourselves!!

Great writing and I'm not going to change anything for you, but for me I want the lines: Politicans ain't worth their weight. And don't forget the olde 'pursue' thing, that does mean chase rather than just want! ;-)

I like how you put it in words. It's what America doesn't want to admit is true...just like we have to pay to breathe.

Wonderfully written, I love when people express their views on politics. I myself tend to speak out about it as well but never with such wonderfully writen verses like you have shown here. Now suddenly I'm finding myself at a loss for words on your piece. Once again it was powerful and wonderful all at the sametime.

Straight and to the point; I like your style, factual, honest and without apology, take it or leave it. Life is full of the good, the bad and the ugly but people are more comfortable pretending that only the good exist. I guess it's more politically correct. You know, if you cant say anything good then don't say anything at all. You break that rule with your exhilarating words, always vivid, always powerful.

DAMN!!!!!!! This is wonderful my friend. You have once again captured exactly how I feel about something in your wonderful work of art. You, as I always say, are a very gifted writer and I am glad to have met you. Your works move me and it is wonderful to have a writer other than my wife and my best friend that is able to do that.
