Bundles of Joy

Bundles of Joy

A Poem by Blooming Flower
"

It has nothing to do with the instrumental from Inside Out. It just fit this poem.

"

What do you think they see?

I’ve been told that they can’t see that far.

I've been told that they won’t remember any of this.

But what do they see?

Do they see blurry faces staring at them?

Do they see the light?

Do they see the sun?

The sky?

Can they see the moon through the window?

Can they see the stars at night?

What do they feel?

Can they feel the love that surrounds them?

Can they feel the warmth that comes with love?

Can they feel the gentleness of the hands that hold them?

Do they remember?

Do they ever feel lonely?

When they’re left to nap on their own?

Do they ever feel overwhelmed by the people?

Or is it just the noise that comes with the people?

Do they remember everyone's heartbeat?

They know their mothers but do they know their fathers?

Have they learned to love their sibling's heartbeats?

I can almost see it.

The small bundle of newness.

The delicate innocence.

They know nothing.

But do they feel?

Are their emotions more complex than hunger and cold?

Do they feel lonely when there’s no one to hold them?

Do they feel the joy when their mother picks them up and holds them close?

Can they feel the love?

Can they see the faces?

There can never be answers.

Just accepting what we know.

That a baby is innocent.

And new.

And loved.

Dear poet. I love the eyes of a child. Fearless, searching and learning. Life is a new wonderful journey.

So many thoughts and questions, expressed in the context of an innocent newborn baby.

I haven't encountered a poem upon this topic, before. It's comprehensive enough, to cover just about every conceivable angle; from an innocent babe's standpoint.

A good mother does all that she can, to address all of the questions raised here. She may only be able answer a few of them, with certainty; but a good mother would always try.

Ideally, a new innocent baby is always deserving of motherly love. And yet, in this sad world; there's not always someone around to provide that deserved love.
