Chapter 1: Hospital
It is a time of peril as WAR rages through the galaxy with no end in sight. But the Legion, led by the sinister SHADOW SATURN and his henchman, Count Smith, have concocted a plan that could bring about the downfall of the Church. General Griffin, in his spaceship, ambushes two Church ships and confirms to Smith that the plan is going perfectly while venturing to the Church Synagogue. At the Synagogue, Master Jacob displays the courage of Brother Michael to Florence Squad, named after Queen Florence, who led a battle against the Legion a thousand years ago, while Brother James brags of his connection to Michael, when he suddenly feels a disturbance and a powerful threat. Saturn instructs a holographic Griffin to launch the attack and sarcastically adds "a week from now" and then transforms back into President Sky in order to inform Jacob of a distress call from Master Stewart on Bucharest. Griffin calls back to make sure Saturn was being sarcastic and Saturn says to launch it now. He then transforms back into Sky but realizes that he is still chatting with Griffin. He ends up getting confused and frustrated with the transformations and gives up. Jacob puts James in charge of his squad and sets out with Master Benedict, Church pet goat Tatooine and Commander Spider in a Church ship to rescue Stewart. As they leave, Griffin breaks into the Church Synagogue and attacks the squad. The Church ship looms over Bucharest and answers Stewart's plea, only to discover that he sent no distress call. Admiral Peterson announces the trap as Legion ships fly in for the kill. Griffin steals the squad's laser guns, and the squad attempt to attack him. As Jacob, Benedict and Tatooine attempt to hold off the invasion of Legion ships, Peterson and Spider make the jump to hyperspeed as the Church ship splits in half, leaving Jacob, Benedict and Tatooine stranded in space. As Griffin escapes in his ship, the squad, ignoring James's protests, jump onto their ship and attempt to track their weapons through prayer. Claire reveals her modified engines on the ship, which shoots the gang into hyperspeed, hurling to Aqua. Jacob and Benedict splash into the murky water of Adoy (Tatooine has a parachute). As they set up camp, the two Church knights begin wondering who the hidden Legion leader is, completely ignoring Tatooine's theory that it's Sky. The squad land on Aqua as the Sea King runs over James in his sail barge, and is holding the laser guns. The gang pursues. As Tatooine gives up, Stewart lands in his ship and rescues the Church knights. James knocks on the doors of the Sea Palace and begins insulting the Sea King's servants, who then send the Hydra after him. The squad infiltrate the palace, sneak past the guards and get the laser guns, which are non-operational because the laser crystals are missing. Tom accidentally wakes the Sea King, but luckily the squad free a prisoner from a block of ice and meet up with James, who rides the Hydra to safety. At Sister Veronica Hospital, on Graveyard, Griffin and Smith use the laser crystals to form an all-powerful crystal, to power their resurrection chamber. Saturn thanks them through hologram, and Scorpio, grandson of the mythical Falco, begins to be reborn. Stewart speeds towards the Church Synagogue, James contacts them through hologram, and Tom fills Jacob in on what's happened. Stewart turns on the hyperspeed engine and makes a rainbow jump to hyperspeed towards Sister Veronica. As Stewart departs, Tatooine and the Church knights break into the resurrection chamber, but are stopped by Griffin. Luckily, Jacob pushes Griffin into a pit and Benedict battles Smith. As Smith gains the upper hand, Jacob grabs him and throws him at the laser crystal, deactivating the resurrection chamber, but Scorpio awakes and begins rebuilding the chamber as Jacob battles Smith and Griffin regains consciousness and ambushes Benedict. James senses that Tatooine is in danger and the squad depart to Sister Veronica. Outside, Griffin's armor begins rusting in the rain and Benedict rips his laser gun away from him. As Scorpio tortures a gunless Jacob, Jacob grabs the laser gun from Benedict and fires at Scorpio, but the Legion zombie reflects the lasers and sends the Church knights right back outside, knocking over Griffin as well. Smith takes the crystal and begins reactivating the resurrection machine as Scorpio prepares to finish the Church knights off. He chokes Jacob into unconsciousness but stops before he can kill him, which baffles everyone. Before anyone can ask, the squad's ship arrives and begins to detonate the resurrection chamber with a giant laser cannon that Claire had added. Jacob and Benedict jump on the ship, Tatooine runs out of the chamber with the crystal and the heroes escape the remains. Smith and Scorpio hop in a Legion speeder and evacuate as Sister Veronica Hospital collapses in a fantastic lightshow. Back at the Church Synagogue, Jacob congratulates the squad with his own celebratory stickers, and reveals his intentions to hunt down Scorpio to the last piece. On Mount Lio, Smith reveals Scorpio to Saturn. Griffin arrives from the ocean with a life tube and the Legion celebrates its "victory". Chapter 2: Mount WAR! Now that I have your attention... The dreaded SHADOW SATURN has summoned his forces to Mount Lio to unveil a secret weapon that will ensure ultimate victory for the Legion. Following the awakening of the "Legion zombie" Scorpio, Saturn summons all of the Legion leadership to Mount Lio, where he plans to unveil his new weapon. As the Legion leaders fly to Mount Lio, there is a delay as several of them have to wait for Baron Plinkett to finish drinking his coffee. When all the leaders are gathered in the castle, Saturn tells the other Legion members that the war is not going well for them. He reassures them that things are going to change due to Scorpio, his new Legion weapon. Unbeknownst to the Legion, Church knights Master Benedict and Master Jacob have infiltrated the castle disguised as Legion members. At first the Legion leaders are unimpressed with Scorpio, especially Plinkett who openly disparages the zombie, earning a bolt of lightning from Saturn. Scorpio manages to impress the Legion leaders with his display of spell powers. He destroys several columns in the castle and Plinkett's hat, even creating a sign saying "GO LEGION" from the debris. When Shadow Mars complains that Scorpio stole his theme song, Lady Helen replies that he is being a diva. Back at the Church Synagogue, Brother James begs the masters to remove him as a substitute teacher for Florence Squad because they put him in grave peril. The Church knight adds that he will suffer from an internal meltdown soon as the stress is getting to him. The masters agree and transfer him to Church Synagogue Food Services, for which James is grateful. The squad get a new teacher, Brother Michael, who hates the thought of looking after a squad. When the squad ask him where he is taking them, Michael replies that they are going on a journey of discovery to Aqua, which the squad are not fond of. Michael tries to persuade the squad to no avail. Claire remarks that he is a great knight but a horrible actor. Meanwhile on Mount Lio, Scorpio continues to impress the crowd with his skills. Saturn plans to create thousands of Scorpio clones and has Count Smith display his cloning machine. However, this test is a failure because the resulting clone of Scorpio is a Legion midget that only has a fraction of his powers. Benedict and Jacob show themselves and fighting erupts in the castle. During the skirmish, the Church knights managed to defeat most of the Legion members and their minions but Saturn managed to escape. Benedict adds that the Legion leader is truly an evil man as he stole President Sky's ship, to which Mars adds that they just don't get it, but keeps quiet in order to protect Saturn's identity. Back on Aqua, Michael takes the squad on a tour but gets trampled by dragons to their amusement. Back on Mount Lio, Benedict and Jacob are forced to fight Scorpio who easily defeats them. However to Smith's dismay, Scorpio refuses to execute the Church knights because they are unarmed. Regarding himself as neither Legion nor Church, Scorpio decides to run away and be himself. Both the Church and Legion chase after him but their ships are left wrecked in the asteroid belt above Mount Lio. Scorpio then jumps to hyperspeed and bids farewell. Back on Aqua, Michael finds himself entertaining the squad by giving them his metal hand to play with on the advice from James, who says that he is always happy to assist and adds that Michael shouldn't feel embarrassed. Meanwhile, James is serving burgers at the Church Synagogue Restaurant but is attacked by Ranch Nicholas for not giving him light mayonnaise in his sandwich. James accidentally pulls one of Nicholas's breathing tubes out of his head, and puts them back the wrong way. An infuriated Nicholas starts shooting at James and the Church knight runs away. As Nicholas accidentally shoots at a fellow bounty hunter, a fight begins in the restaurant. Meanwhile Smith and General Griffin are traveling aboard the Legion flagship. Both Legion members are furious that all of the bounty hunters are refusing to work for them in the wake of Christopher Spacesuit's death. Smith orders Griffin to deploy several probes to find Scorpio. Some of the probes reach Aqua, where Michael complains about not being able to join the hunt for Scorpio and the other Church knights thinking that he is not ready. The squad leave Base 51 and find Scorpio creating beautiful ice sculptures in the snow. Scorpio confesses that he doesn't want to fight but only wants to create things and to be left alone. Michael tries to attack Scorpio but is not able to pass through the energy shield and passes out. Scorpio says goodbye to the squad and adds that he has to find a new home. Shortly later, Scorpio is attacked by probes and captured by Griffin. Tatooine wakes Michael, to which the latter responds that he thinks he can be too impulsive sometimes. Meanwhile Smith and Griffin start cloning Scorpio and depart for the Church Synagogue. At the Synagogue the Church is debating what course of action should they partake while Sky eavesdrops on them. Benedict orders Michael to stay put, but it's too late as he is already battling the Legion over the Church Synagogue. Jacob argues that it was too risky to train Michael, but Benedict answers that it was Master Richard's final wish. Richard appears as a ghost and tells Benedict not to blame that on him. As the battle over the Church Synagogue rages on, Smith produces several new Legion clones using Scorpio's genetic material. Unlike Scorpio, the Legion clones are loyal to the Legion and Smith. During the battle, Michael's ship is blown up by the Legion flagship. While Tatooine flies to the Church Synagogue, Michael and the squad create new ships with the help of a spell. Tatooine lands at the Church Synagogue kitchen where James is working and destroys it in the process. After some difficulty, Michael manages to find the ship's "weak spot" and destroys the Legion flagship, sending its debris scattering around the Church Synagogue. At the Synagogue, the squad, the Church knights and Sky are cheering at the falling wreckage. Alternating between being President and Saturn, Sky uses a spell to halt the descent of a large piece of wreckage carrying Smith, Griffin, Scorpio and the Legion clones. Smith presents an unconscious Scorpio before ordering his Legion clones to attack the Church knights. As the clones attack, Scorpio awakes and uses his spell powers to save the Church knights by destroying the Legion clones. He then uses a spell to hurl Smith and Griffin into the air. While Scorpio wins the affection of the Church knights, he tells them that he wants to be left alone and begs his new allies not to call him. Scorpio departs on his modified ship for parts unknown. Back at the Church Synagogue, Jacob puts the memories of the mission into the Church Chronicles. He expresses pride in his squad's accomplishments and compliments the valor of Michael, who will no longer be teaching the squad as James has asked for the job once more. After a brief exchange, Benedict chases his master Richard's ghost over the matter of training Michael. Chapter 3: Temple The tide of the war has turned. SHADOW SATURN's plot to create an army of LEGION CLONES has failed. On Mount Lio, a battle between the Church and the Legion wages on. With the help of Master Jacob the Church army gains momentum and slowly starts to push back the Legion army, under the command of Count Smith and General Griffin, and the Legion forces, consisting of Shadow Mars, Lady Helen and the Legion robots, start an all out retreat. All of a sudden, Florence Squad come to the aid of Jacob, Brother James and Tatooine and together they defeat the Legion leadership. After the battle Brother Michael asks Jacob if he knows the consequences of the successful battle on Mount Lio, to which Jacob replies that he does, and that the answer is a "medal ceremony". Back at the Church Synagogue the medal ceremony takes place, to which President Sky sadly replies that the Legion has been thwarted once again by "a bunch of peasants and a goat", quietly adding that "life isn't fair", while everyone else cheers. At Lord Hades's Temple, Smith, Griffin and the other Legion members have established a new plan, to open a Legion Squad Academy for the Legion's "Hades Squad". Hades Squad immediately start to make fun of their teacher, pointing out that Smith is a doo-doo head, to which Mars adds that the Legion is vicious and vengeful, but that they are not rude, but Hades Squad trick him into checking his wrist watch, burning his laser gun in the process. What the Legion doesn't know is that Commander Spider was spying on them and reported their location to the Church knights. Meanwhile the masters at the Church Synagogue are debating where the "WE'VE WON THE WAR PARTY" should take place, when the Church knights inform the masters and Sky that the Legion is at Lord Hades's and that they should mount a surprise attack against them. Sky agrees and orders every Church knight to be sent to Lord Hades's, to mount an ambush against the Legion. Later, in his office, Sky tells the happenings to Smith. When Sky asks if Hades Squad are ready, Smith adds that they are a handful, but that the new disciplinary officer Elephant III will deal with them. Things don't go according to the plan, as Elephant's mother tongue is made fun of by Hades Squad, because of its relation to pooping and toilet humor sounds. Sky is not amused and orders Smith to wait for him. His plans are almost thwarted as he almost reveals his true identity to the Church knights. The knights decide to go with Sky in order to guard him and keep him safe, to his dismay. Back at Lord Hades's, Smith has prepared a welcome party for his master, and threatens his students that Shadow Saturn, the "evilest man ever", is coming to teach them a lesson. After waiting several "minutes" for his master Smith becomes nervous and sends Griffin to find him. Meanwhile in orbit above the Church Synagogue, the fleet is ready to depart to Lord Hades's. As Michael says that this is the day the Legion will finally be conquered, Sky tries to reason the acts of the Legion to the disbelief of his fellow crew members. His plans are almost thwarted when he is contacted by Griffin who addressed him as Lord Saturn and then even appears with his ship beside them, to the dismay of the crew, especially Sky, who panics and denies knowing who Griffin is. The Church knights start to chase after Griffin, but he manages to escape, when all of the Church ships collide. With all but one of the Church ships in ruins, Sky, the squad, James and Jacob depart for Forest Whitaker, where the only person who can help them, Scorpio, is staying. At first Scorpio is reluctant to help them, but with help of some faith invocations he agrees. The Church knights and Scorpio depart for the ruins of the fleet, while Sky is stuck on the planet with James to his annoyance. Meanwhile Griffin is talking with Smith through a holographic image when Smith orders him back to Lord Hades's, but when Griffin sees what Hades Squad are doing he decides that he will keep looking for their Legion commander, to the dismay of Smith. Back above the Church Synagogue Scorpio easily repairs the Church fleet, assembling all the ships into a single, large vessel. Back on Forest Whitaker, Sky is going through "torture" when he has to listen to the monkey song. He snaps and makes up the story that he is allergic to monkey fur. He steals Scorpio's ship, leaving James behind, but gets blasted by Griffin who mistakes him for Scorpio. Back over the Church Synagogue the Church knights thank Scorpio for saving them and depart. Scorpio feels conflicted if he should help the squad. After much debate he decides that they need his help and departs for Lord Hades's. Back at Lord Hades's, Saturn and Griffin arrive in Griffin's ship and Saturn quickly manages to whip Hades Squad into shape after electrocuting them. Saturn tries to prepare the Legion for the battle against the Church, not knowing that their ships are landing. When he finally realizes what is happening he quickly transforms into Sky and orders the Church knights to attack them. A fierce battle rages loose between the Church and the Legion and the Church starts winning as the Legion starts to retreat. The Church deploys a battalion of robots, but they are quickly wiped out when the Legion ambushes them from behind. Meanwhile Sky throws a grenade on the Church ship, destroying it. The Legion now advances and is on the brink of victory when Scorpio arrives and defeats the Legion after Hades Squad mock him, destroying the Klegger Corp Mining Facility and repairing the Church ship. When the Church knights arrive to the Church Synagogue the squad throw a party for Scorpio. Everyone cheers and has fun, except for Sky who sobs at the podium. He gets into a better mood when he sees Michael sobbing as well, as no one is congratulating him, even if he is the chosen one. Sky cheers Michael up and slowly starts regaining his trust, as his future Legion apprentice. © 2017 Florence Squad |
