the city of the lost forevers

the city of the lost forevers

A Poem by Zoya

I was just metres away
from my destination
when a soldier in prison stripes
put a gun to my head

through him, she spoke

~retrace your steps
for I couldn't ever learn how
to let my guard down~

The next time
I found my way
to the central harbour
in the guise of a seafarer

I had made it to
the outskirts of her heART
when the sirens went off

the traitors
from her past
detected my presence
and pushed me into a sea called
potential danger

through them, she spoke

~It pains me to see you struggle
but the city inside my heart is anti-aliens~

The thirteenth visit
was the most unusual

In the middle of nothingness
stood a worn down door
and through it, she spoke

~What offers do you bring?~

The here
and the now
I offer to you
the present me

Finally, the door creaked
and flung open

with her smile evident in her voice, she said

~Welcome to The City of the Lost Forevers~

We can enter The City of the Lost Forever. But can we return from where we began. Nice dance of words. You left the reader with the need to read more, know more. Thank you, dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

I'm on my second read of this, and I must say it's very powerful. The opening image is wonderful

Walking a journey full of tragedies to find the place we feel welcomed. To fight that inner demon that tells you to run, to not bare the danger. Grabbing read

With love,

It took me a couple of reads to really understand the gist of what's happening. Can't say I understand it all yet, but from the angle I've interpreted I could sense your tact for profundity was working deep magic that was omg brilliant! This had a sombre tone to it but at the same time rather soothing and I as a reader just wanted to join the adventure and see the growth of this progression. Just masterful! Well done!

Finding our ways through the landmines of life are often - "iffy". Even as we do - there is always another corner to turn. You described it well.

life is weird... ain't it doll face?

It gets.... stranger, inevitably for the rest of your life. That's all I'm gonna say right now.

(good luck with hell doll face)

I'm looking for the City of Endless Possibilities. I should have a map by now but I'm having to navigate solely by imagination. The City of Lost Forevers would mean a wrong turn for me. Maybe I should back up and find Robert Frost and go with him down The Road Not Taken. This was a delightful detour, however. I enjoyed the read.

Interesting wordplay, left to the reader to interpret as they want. To me, it seemed like a love story of a closed heart and an undefeated warrior,

Very imaginative Zoya ... a good story with just the right hints of mysticism and fantasy. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Your writing improves every time I read it.

Keep going ... good work
