Missing The Future

Missing The Future

A Poem by Zoya

~How often do you miss
and how often do you long~

in a world where
everybody guides
and nobody helps
I wouldn't be surprised
to know that your four-poster bed
encapsulates your entire
existence

with the curtains of the bed
being the right amount of permeable,
allowing only the light
of those who seek you
with good intention
to pass through

you find peace and contentment
in missing the good times

and even though
missing some people and places
makes you feel a certain kind of way,
there's no place you'd rather be

But on nights
when the intensity
of the darkness puts you off,
you temporarily break
the permeable barrier
only to locate a blue moon in the sky

And suddenly,
there is a longing
to move forward
to reach somewhere

to be,
elsewhere

~How often do you miss
and how seldom do you long~

And even when you do,
how often is it a longing
to create moments
worth missing?

Holy mole, Zoya, how I've missed your work!! This is phenomenal! I think I need to read it again to get a better sense of it all - and maybe just to ride the wave of its river again. So many juicy lines and moments, I wouldn't know where to start. But it's profound and beautiful.....with a stabbing dash of truth! Well done!

Nice to see you Zoya.
This might seem strange, but while reading your poem I pictured Scrooge on Christmas Eve hiding from the ghosts in his four poster bed.
Hiding from anything that could possibly hurt him until he was forced to face his fears.

Missing and longing walk hand in hand for some.

A good write.

Hello Zoys. Much to ponder here. Over the last year I have missed many things and many people. I continue to count my blessing, but more than anything I long for what I once thought was normal. Keep safe dear poet. Good to find you back here and writing.
