Things you find in the pockets of old jackets
Bits of string, a tram ticket (where were we going)
But never the smell of the person who wore it
I know people who carried a pair of their wife/ girlfriends knickers
But the scent faded over time
They still clung to their comfort rags though
That's all the were comfort rags No scent; just bit of cloth - rags

Sometimes, I find it silly how we try to capture or contain a person's essence in an object as ordinary and replaceable as a jacket itself. But I'm sure we've all done it at some point in life or another. Thank you for the read and review, wild rose. I truly appreciate you :)
I hope this is not about someone leaving you? Well if that would be the case, It's just sad really. Thinking about the things you've done together, and the warmth you'd both feel when close to each other. Great write, very interesting indead. I hope you're doing good too :))
this is a very interesting poem and our desire to get attached to things...how subtle it is to see that we get attached to non-living things because those belonged to ones we loved..
Warmth is much more than a temperature... Beautifully portrayed here. Sometimes it's not the person we miss, but we miss the times where we *did* miss them, where they meant more to us than just a piece of fabric or an old photograph. Sometimes we miss the memories more than the people linked to them, and the memories once warm soon lose their luster and feel dull and cold to the touch.
Here's to hoping you can find that warmth in new fires and new friends.
Great job!

Wisely said! I can't thank you enough for these kind and detailed reviews. Means so much :)
Happiness of recalling older gesture comes from the saddest part of the poem...and that's where the reader is bound to have couple of tears come along with a mad smile... Very nicely penned... Young champion... Keep up the good work !!

You are too kind with your words! I can't thank you enough :)
This is a brilliant running metaphor for how it can feel when we lose someone & their essence is slipping away . . . can't remember how they look or sound or smell anymore. Once again, I am stunned by the maturity & insight in your work, every time I read your profile: "seventeen & learning"!!! You are so far ahead of most writers who have been writing all their lives! A total pleasure to read you! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

You are ever so kind with your words, Margie! Thank you so much :D
I still have a jacket from a person who was very special to me. I really enjoyed this poem because it touched a place in my heart. You are not alone. I relate so much to the warmth you seek. Beautiful writing with an underrated emotion.
