Contemporary Brain Consumption

Contemporary Brain Consumption

A Poem by Fauna

Here I am, sitting on some bench in the middle of what we call civilization.

It occurs to me that this life has not even recognized its’ own potential.

Look at the television screen, we fabricate and admire fictitious persona:

Monsters, Zombies.

Look at them, what a topic of generalized conversation it is that some day in the near or far future they may inhabit the Earth.

And of course, the tragic truth is being constantly walked past.

My friends, we are already zombies.

We are occupying the rhythm that has been unconstitutionally written for us.

March to the drum of IPhone, and High School, and Jobs, and depleting our planet’s resources.

We have been made into some kind of desensitized race that is mindlessly marching towards our own destruction.

When you are told through the actions of the masses to buy a product, you do it.

When you are told to hate, you do.

And you are cursed with pride, and shame, and an always anti-grounding ego.

Face the mob mentality.

Who’s the zombie now?
