Amid Mere Words

I wrote this poem when I once saw a nauseating post on someone's account which reminded me of how all the "cool" people cram up their lives, posts and captions with mere shallow words

Why do people love people
Whose pics are full of likes
Why do they blindly chase
The coolness of long captions?

Why do people feel the need to
Hide their faces in posts
Are they afraid that the world might
See them for what they really are?

Why does the humble beauty
Escape the attention of social media?
All it appreciates is the
Mask of hauntingly beautiful lies we present .
