the meaning of control

the meaning of control

A Poem by Calliope

lend me your ears
give me your words
and while we're at it,
let me borrow your sight
hands stuck firmly at your sides
let me teach you
the meaning
of sensory deprivation
of shuttered perspective
perception to a fault

see no evil
hear no evil
speak no evil
what's left? turn the page

Calliope, Sensory deprivation? Shuttered perspective? Such vivid imagery to accentuate the meaning of the poem. Which is.....? After reading it twice the feeling I got was a person looking in the mirror and taking inventory of self while fluttering through a very old Rolodex. A self-pep-talk after a bruising temporary setback. A rallying cry..."what's left? turn the page." Back on course. Sometimes the shorter writes can contain so much more powerful thoughts than a lengthy opus would. I love this piece! take care...dan
