The house spoke. The little man heard them, it must be so. Perhaps, the smallest whispers came from within the fine Hungarian table or something else in the room? Perchance it was the armoire, the chaise, or another as stationary as she regards him? He pricked up his ears to take note, paid close mind to its enlightening nuggets, for it, or they, were wise.


“Discipline your memory, sir, lest ye forget. Pick a rose from the footpath as she likes them best. Hurry on, stop dawdling, you've no time to waste. She's wrapping for chill, so prepare her a place.” The voices always know best " they knew her as once, he did.


“Arouse her with color she's certain to warm.” Their message was clear and without further tarry, he picked up his pace to the footpath in haste.
