Where I'm from

Where I'm from

Where I am from

I am from book pages always turning, from music playing, and ears listening.

I am from coffee pots kept full, and from stubbornly dead grass and tall trees,

pruned to bare limbs.

I am from questionable histories, but forward progress.

From Mother, and Father.

I am from moving from the past to a better future,

and from second chances.

I am from constant teachings of respect, honesty, and “try new things”

I am from the juniper and sage brush deserts of Central Oregon,

and from the concrete sprawl and commanding buildings of India.

I am from ice cream and sushi, from travel and trying,

And life altering experiences far away from home.

I am from learning, and growing, changing, and understanding.

I am me.
