BY MY SIDE
The way you
looked at me,
was erased by the cold wind.
Your scent drowned,
in the anguish
of my heart and soul.
There are
days when
I look out on the horizon,
hoping to catch glimpses
of your sweet face
in the shimmering light.
To no avail;
the clouds
dance across the gray skies,
laying raindrops on me
to wake me from sadness;
murmuring they know.
There wasn’t
a day
I did not wish your pain unto me.
To love and cherish,
your martyr;
“Until death do us part”.
We may not
have been right,
but I’ll be damned, if our love
did not give birth to each and
every new day to call our own.
Our hearts lived for one another.
Now, I dance
alone in the wind.
Meadows of the brightest
greens and sunshine yellows,
cry morning dew;
for they miss your touch.
Forests we
used to walk,
no longer breathe your perfume.
Autumn reigns supreme;
orchestrating the leaves, as they
fall in cascading symphony.
“Remember the
hills
of our dreams?”
Well, they still stand firm
in all their towering glory,
awaiting our dreams to return.
I dare only
climb midway,
for our dreams are incomplete.
It takes two to build
the castles in our sky,
so I pray you return to me.
Overlooking
our earthly kingdom:
fields of our yore,
trees in harmony with the wind,
the sun-kissed peaks of our dreams -
I embrace the portrait in the locket.
A handful of
sunshine
around my neck, warming the soul;
breathing love onto my chest.
“I will never leave your side”,
whispers softly into my heart...
I normally dont like the longer poems (attention span problem) but this was a captivating read from the first line, you feel compelled to read on, as you hook your reader into the emotion very quickly, it was touching and sad, tinged with such loving hope..I really think you have a solid poem on your hands here.

there is a difference in style
but not of your usual emotion
of empathy to your lover
of servicing and of giving
being a receptive lover
is always a joy to read
thank you for sharing
