Where does the beauty of this world lie?
In nature’s breath, beneath the turquoise sky?
Behind the blushing faces of you and I?
At a loss, I keep on wondering,
All the while the waterfalls are thundering,
The forests whispering life in the wind,
The fervent fauna awaiting to sing.
The sun shines down on us all,
Imbuing us with verve from spring to fall.
The beauty I seek is within us unique.
The earth and the sun give us substance,
But the true beauty, is in our existence.
A neat, compact and tenderly expressed poem, which enables its philosophy to be conveyed persuasively. It is a regularly-cited cliche that 'beauty is found within', but this is examined intelligently by attributing the solution much more simply and honestly. The beauty of our existence is indeed argued fairly, but though this simplicity is effective, it is an opinion which is ultimately rhetorical. The conclusion is a solid and unarguable one, but there is a little more to be explored within this philosophy than is implied. Then again, in terms of 'poetic license' this is acceptable. It merely raises more possibilities and arguments, which is a positive thing in art. I would say, for instance, that without the existence of everything else, then mere existence would not be quite so beautiful.
I loved the first stanza, I have a tendency to use questions like this in my writing, its like a reverse technique, letting the reader feel out their own thoughts on the subject. Beautiful writing, I think the last two lines are perfect.
What a beautiful poem...naming many wondrous things such as waterfalls, forests and sunshine. I like the ending, that beauty "is in our existence". Thank you for sharing this poem.
