I inadvertently put myself in the shoes of a drug addict and this is what came out.
TAIL END OF IT ALL
Animosity thick as the air I
breath,
Life unraveling at reckless speeds,
Moving from scene to scene,
Catching glimpses of moments passed,
A race I was out to finish last.
Participation counts or so they say,
I don’t know better, so I obey.
Enmity is out to get me, I can
feel it.
I feel it in my veins, it befouls my mind.
I watch my blood coagulate in a spoon,
What a depressing sight.
A slow brewed climax,
The epitome of my existence,
Propelling my evanescence.
Exiled to a burning paradise,
I was born once and died twice.
What remains of me is an ethereal void.
Robbed of my flesh, stripped of my soul,
Infernal herd beckons, I must answer the call.
This stoic pain I’m left to mourn,
Self demise, a fault of my own.
An amazing poem. The background of it - with english being your 3rd language, and no apparent experience in the subject - makes it all the more impressive. The title, something usually overlooked by authors, is as well thought out as the poem itself, and the story is easy to follow. The writing is very imaginative, with the imagery and metaphors, and the language shows intelligence. It's very insightful, and I especially like the line 'I was born once and died twice'. An altogether interesting read.
