I like the meaning portrayed by this poem. Life indeed has its way with us at times. Suffocation is the best word to describe it I guess.
That said, I must say that the rhymes weren't as smooth as your other works. They felt a bit forced at times. But you've stated that this was just your 3rd poem. You surely have come a long way since then! A very long way indeed.

This would do very well in a slam or an open mic session. It's hard to encapsulate what being imprisoned is like, especially when the prison is yourself. You are always the hardest jailer, when it is only you who can open the doors to freedom.
Hard to believe that this is only your third ever poem. Enjoyed the rhyme and flow which keeps natural and helpless until the very end. Start to live and enjoy what's given :)
I think the reader would probably understand this more if it was spoken out loud to them. I like how you bring chess into this. I use to play chess but I was never good at it. The title sounds powerful and gets the reader thinking of what this is about. I like how you question yourself, it's good to hear the poets thoughts being carried through out the poem it makes it more interesting to the reader
The poem answered it own questions. We can fall and be disappointed. But we must get up and begin to live again. I like the many strong statements made in the poem. I like the wisdom in the last four lines. A outstanding poem.

I like this very much. I've been pondering some time now about writing a poem about a prison, that prison being the planet, life, etc. As free as we think we are, we are really trapped here. We live and we die.
"Suffocate to Life" ... I love the title as well. It's the first thing that grabs your attention, and the content of the poem holds the reader enraptured until the very end.
